SVBONY Unveils SV241 PowerBox: A Compact Power Hub for Astrophotographers

SVBONY has announced the release of the SV241 PowerBox, a compact and efficient power and data hub tailored for astrophotographers and telescope users.

The SV241 is designed to simplify the often complex and cluttered setups used in astrophotography. Despite its small size—just 3.8 by 2.4 inches and weighing under 130 grams—the PowerBox delivers robust performance. It offers six DC outputs capable of supporting a total current of up to 10 amps, making it suitable for powering a range of devices including cooled cameras, dew heaters, and motorized mounts.

In addition to its power capabilities, the SV241 includes multiple USB ports: two USB 3.1 ports for high-speed data transfer, one USB 2.0 port, and a USB Type-C port, ensuring compatibility with a wide array of modern devices. The unit is built with safety in mind, featuring protections against electrostatic discharge, reverse polarity, and short circuits.

The PowerBox is also engineered for flexibility in the field. It can be powered via a 12V car battery or portable power station, and its mounting options include M4 and UNC 1/4-20 screw holes, allowing it to be securely attached to various telescope rigs. Its operating temperature range of -25°C to +40°C ensures reliability even in harsh outdoor conditions.

While the SV241 does not currently support software integration with platforms like ASCOM or ASTAP, SVBONY has indicated that a more advanced version with controller capabilities is in development and expected later this year.

The SV241 PowerBox is set to go on pre-sale starting June 30, 2025, with a promotional launch price of USD $59.99—significantly lower than its standard retail price of $79.99.

I have not yet got my hands on this to test this out.
