ZWO, a leading innovator in astrophotography technology, has announced the release of firmware version 2.5 for its Seestar smart telescope series. The update introduces a suite of new features and performance enhancements aimed at both amateur and seasoned astronomers.
Among the most notable additions is support for 60-second exposures in Equatorial (EQ) mode, allowing users to capture more detailed deep-sky images. The update also introduces a flat frame shooting function, enabling users to calibrate their images more effectively by correcting for optical imperfections such as vignetting and dust shadows.
Another key feature is the device indicator switch, which gives users control over the visibility of the telescope’s status lights—particularly useful for minimizing light pollution during night sessions. Additionally, RAW image support has been added to Scenery Mode, offering greater flexibility for post-processing landscape astrophotography.
The update also expands the Seestar’s accessibility with the inclusion of Italian and Traditional Chinese language support.
In terms of user experience, ZWO has optimized the polar alignment interface, making it more intuitive for users to align their telescopes accurately. The update also includes refinements to the user interface and text elements, along with fixes for several known bugs, improving overall system stability.
The Seestar v2.5 firmware update is now available for download via the official Seestar mobile app and ZWO’s website.
With this release, ZWO continues to enhance the capabilities of its smart telescope lineup, reinforcing its commitment to making high-quality astrophotography more accessible and enjoyable for users around the world.
